A Chord Progression is basically a Pattern Movement from one chord to another.
We have various chord progressions however the most common one is the I-IV-V (1-4-5) chord progression.
The I-IV-V Chord Progression is used to play lots of songs. This means you are literally moving from the “I chord” to the “IV chord” and then to the “V chord”
Now let’s do a drill on this I-IV-V Chord Progression :
- Turn on your Metronome
- Set it to 4/4 time signature
- Set the tempo to 60bpm or 50bpm (depending on how fast you can go)
- Hit the Start/Play button of your Metronome
Play With your right hand alone ;
C Major Triad (I) = 4 Counts/Beats
F Major Triad (IV) = 2 Counts/Beats
G Major Triad (V) = 2 Counts/Beats
C Major Triad (I) = 4 Counts/Beats
Congrats! You’ve played your first chord progression in the key of C Major.
